Apex Legends amps up with season 27
Respawn Entertainment is launching the 27th season of Apex Legends next week, titled Amped, even as Electronic Arts focuses heavily on Battlefield 6 and its new battle royale mode, Battlefield REDSEC. The new season introduces faster movement mechanics, including a mantle boost that increases speed when players bounce off walls or vault over ledges.
Olympus receives a visual and gameplay overhaul called Olympus: Rising. Valkyrie’s VTOL jets gain speed, her Missile Swarm no longer causes self-damage or has height limits, and it now reveals hit enemies while disabling their movement passives temporarily. Rampart’s Amped Cover walls gain health through Evo tiers and now include a roof. Horizon’s Gravity Lift cooldown is shorter, and her Black Hole ability has increased durability. All Legends benefit from the new mantle boost, and the Trident vehicle now features improved collision detection and its own health bar.
Despite Battlefield 6’s recent surge, Apex Legends has maintained strong player numbers, consistently exceeding 150,000 concurrent users on Steam in 2025. Reaching its 27th season underscores its staying power in the live-service genre.
