Apple to introduce ads in iOS Maps app soon
Apple plans to insert advertisements into its Maps application as the company expands revenue from its iPhone software, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman wrote in his newsletter. The paid placements would appear in search results similar to promotions already running in the App Store.
The Maps ads represent the latest effort to generate income from Apple’s 1.5 billion iPhones worldwide. Paid placements may eventually spread across all search functions in the iOS system, following patterns established in Apple Music, where subscribers see curated radio stations and interviews.
The advertising push could raise questions about user privacy as Apple introduces Intelligence features. Those new tools gather personal information to power personalized Siri responses and automated actions across applications.
