Chhath Puja trade to hit Rs 38000 crore
The Chhath Puja festival will generate approximately 38,000 crore rupees in trade across India this year, according to the Confederation of All India Traders announcement on Friday. The figure represents a 22.58 percent increase from last year’s 31,000 crore rupees as roughly 150 million people participate in the four-day celebration honoring the Sun God. Trade in Delhi alone is expected to surpass 6,000 crore rupees with about 1,500 ceremonial sites prepared for worshippers.
The festival has expanded beyond Bihar to become a national celebration across multiple states. Shoppers are purchasing traditional items such as bamboo baskets, earthen lamps, sugarcane, and ceremonial materials from local markets. Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal stated the festival supports small businesses and artisans while promoting government economic independence initiatives. The celebration combines religious observance with economic activity that benefits cottage industries and creates jobs.
