Colgate-Palmolive Tolaram supports fluoride research at IADR conference
Colgate-Palmolive Tolaram sponsored a symposium addressing fluoride safety and cavity prevention during the 22nd Annual Scientific Conference of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research Nigerian Division in Lagos. University of Lagos Professor Omolara Uti and Lagos State University College of Medicine Senior Lecturer Afolabi Oyapero presented research showing fluoride reduces dental caries between 25 and 70 percent while dismissing cancer risk claims as scientifically unfounded. Oyapero urged Nigerian authorities to establish evidence-based fluoride guidelines accounting for local environmental factors.
The company awarded resident doctor Oluwadamilola Aigoro from Lagos University Teaching Hospital 2 million naira through the 2025 Colgate Research Award for Preventive Oral Care to advance oral health investigations. Professional Relations Manager Ogechukwu MacJohnson introduced Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste containing zinc phosphate during a conference product demonstration.
