FAAN orders removal of vehicles from MMA Road
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has mandated petroleum tankers, limousine vehicles and unauthorized automobiles blocking Murtala Muhammed Airport roadways to vacate immediately or face forced removal after repeated warnings failed to achieve compliance. Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku stated that the parked vehicles constitute security hazards near aviation infrastructure and diminish the facility’s appearance during a briefing announcing Safety Week activities.
Airport officials recently conducted refresher courses for security personnel following separate incidents at Abuja and Kano terminals where passengers attempted to transport acidic materials and prohibited items aboard aircraft. Kuku emphasized that divergent protocols between airlines and airport operators regarding dangerous goods packaging require better alignment and communication among stakeholders. The authority has coordinated with the Lagos State government and federal security agencies to begin clearing encroachments along access routes serving the airport complex.
