Dantsoho urges African ports to focus on Blue Economy
Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho called on West and Central African maritime regulators and operators to emphasize blue economy initiatives as a strategy for employment generation and economic advancement. Speaking at the conclusion of the 45th Annual Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa in Pointe-Noire, Congo, Dantsoho said decisions from the weeklong gathering would influence policy development and assist member governments in economic management and financial stability maintenance.
Dantsoho, serving as PMAWCA president, stressed the need for regional cooperation among maritime stakeholders to advance port operations and national economies collectively. He praised contributions from port directors-general and chief executives while noting that enthusiasm during technical sessions demonstrated readiness to address future challenges.
The Nigerian official, represented by Corporate Affairs and Communication General Manager Ikechukwu Onyemekara, thanked Congo for hosting the council and commended Secretary-General Koffi Jean Marie for coordination efforts. Dantsoho emphasized that African geographical and economic conditions require stronger integration amid evolving global maritime developments.
