Echoes of the End gets major overhaul
Icelandic studio Myrkur Games has released a free Enhanced Edition update for its fantasy action-adventure title Echoes of the End, which originally launched in August to mixed reviews. The overhaul addresses widespread criticism by revamping nearly every aspect of the game, with a strong focus on combat improvements. Animations have been retimed for improved responsiveness, enemy and boss behaviors have been refined, and ranged combat has been rebalanced. New environmental hazards now interact with player abilities to create more dynamic encounters.
The update also introduces a customization system featuring 13 outfits and over 20 relics that alter gameplay styles. Outfits are unlocked through progression and crafted using resources from chests, which now grant more experience to accelerate leveling. Menial puzzles have been reduced to improve pacing, and both the tutorial and the first chapter have been completely reworked. A new default difficulty, called Journey, sits between Story and Adventure modes. A New Game+ option introduces eight elite enemy types with enhanced abilities, providing a greater challenge on repeat playthroughs. To mark the update, the game is currently on sale for 40 percent off.
