Farmers to receive fertiliser by mid-November
Farmers will receive Compound D fertilizer by mid-November as distribution accelerates under the Presidential Inputs Programme. Lands ministry permanent secretary Obert Jiri toured the Langford manufacturing facility in Waterfalls on Wednesday and confirmed more than 25,000 tons will reach production zones before the month ends. The plant produces 2,090 tons per day and requires 50 days of operation to produce the 100,000 tons required for government allocations.
Seed supplies have arrived at Grain Marketing Board depots, with some regions already distributing stock to growers. Top-dressing fertilizer becomes necessary four weeks after the planting season begins. Langford chief executive Titus Maravanyika said the company had completed 30 percent of its GMB commitments, with raw materials secured for blending operations. The ministry emphasized that prompt delivery of inputs allows producers to start cultivation early and improves harvest prospects for the summer growing season.
