Gary Semmer drives growth in AssuredPartners team
Gary Semmer helped build AssuredPartners Construction Practice from its 2021 start to a team of 225 workers spread across 40 American locations. The Chicago-area broker merged with Gallagher in August and expects to have more than 1,000 construction specialists after combining operations. Umbrella insurers limit capacity to 10 million dollars and force buyers into surplus lines markets that charge higher premiums.
Construction firms struggle to replace retiring baby boomers as young workers avoid trade schools. Semmer teaches risk management at the University of Minnesota and serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club in Chicago. He wants carriers to adopt uniform application forms that reduce paperwork time for agents and underwriters.
