Pathea drops Superball out of nowhere
Pathea Games released Superball for PC and Xbox Series X/S on Thursday, a free-to-play arena game that combines elements of Rocket League and Overwatch. The studio announced the title at the ID@Xbox and IGN Showcase after development began in 2019 under the name Super Buckyball Tournament.
Players select from 17 characters divided into goalkeepers, midfielders and forwards for three-versus-three matches. The game offers four additional modes called Slam Dunk, Dodgeball, Icebreaker and Divine Path alongside standard competition.
New users have 72 hours to test all characters before choosing one to permanently unlock with a voucher. Additional heroes require progression through gameplay after the trial period ends.
Lead producer Guo Yuheng said the project evolved from a player-versus-player mech combat concept when a football-inspired mode caught the developer’s attention. The game appears on Xbox Game Pass despite its free-to-play status.
