Gigbanc unveils Global Talent Fellowship, Lagos
Gigbanc has created a fellowship program to help African freelancers earn at least 3,000 dollars each month. The 12-week initiative accepts 20 participants who work in design, coding, and content creation. Applications close on Nov. 15 through the company website.
Chief Executive Paul Omoregie said the program connects talented professionals with mentors and international clients. Fellows will complete projects for real customers and build networks that support local hiring. The fintech firm processes cross-border payments for African workers who face foreign exchange obstacles.
Gigbanc will hold a networking event on Saturday at Zone Tech in Lagos. Attendees can join panel discussions about global skills and payment systems. The gathering features a pitch competition with cash awards and closes with entertainment at 6:30 p.m.
The gig economy in Africa should reach 65 billion dollars in value by year’s end. Many freelancers earn below international rates because they lack access to worldwide markets. Marketing head Habeeb Ajijola said fellows should reinvest their income through community employment and training.
