GTA 4 RTX Remix mod makes game look stunning
A new comparison video by MxBenchmarkPC showcases the dramatic visual upgrade introduced by the Grand Theft Auto 4 RTX Remix mod, developed by Xoxor4D. The side-by-side footage shows the original game running alongside a path-traced version at both 4K and 1440p, enhanced with NVIDIA DLSS and Frame Generation. The mod overhauls lighting and shadows with ray tracing, delivering a level of visual fidelity many fans have long hoped for in an official remaster.
However, the mod is extremely demanding—high-end GPUs still struggle to maintain 60 frames per second without Frame Generation enabled. While the lighting improvements are striking, other elements, such as character models and low-resolution textures, remain dated and would benefit from additional updates.
The mod is not yet publicly available, but supporters can access it early through Xoxor4D’s Patreon. With Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed to May 2026, this enhanced version of the 2008 title offers a compelling way to revisit Liberty City while fans wait for Rockstar’s next mainline entry. The studio cited the need to meet heightened expectations for what it predicts will be the biggest entertainment launch in history as the reason for the delay.
