India launches SOAR AI skilling programme for students
India has launched a nationwide artificial intelligence training initiative to prepare students and teachers for technology careers. The Skilling for AI Readiness program started in July 2025 through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Officials said the effort supports the nation’s 2047 development goals by building digital capabilities across economic sectors.
The curriculum targets pupils from sixth through twelfth grade with three 15-hour courses, while educators receive a separate 45-hour training module. Lessons cover machine learning fundamentals and responsible technology applications. The Skill India Digital Hub distributes materials to reach learners from various social backgrounds.
Government planners expect the program will create qualified workers for data analysis and software development positions. The ministry designed courses to fit within existing school schedules and job training programs. Authorities aim to establish widespread technology literacy that advances both innovation and economic independence.
