JBL’s $1300 soundbar crams 27 drivers into sleek design
JBL has unveiled its new flagship soundbar, the Bar 1300MK2, delivering 2470 watts of peak power through 27 drivers arranged in an 11.4-channel layout. The system includes six upward-firing speakers to support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for immersive 3D audio, with an emphasis on clear dialogue, precise bass, and adaptable placement in living spaces.
A redesigned, slimmer profile uses oval racetrack drivers to better match modern flat-screen TVs. The wireless subwoofer features two 8-inch drivers and incorporates AI Sound Boost, which dynamically adjusts power according to the audio content. Detachable side modules double as Bluetooth speakers or wireless rear surrounds, powered by built-in rechargeable batteries.
All MK2 series models—the Bar 1300, 1000, 800, 500, and 300—offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Users can adjust settings via the JBL/Harman One app, which includes a 7-band equalizer and a “Moments” function for quick access to saved playlists. The Bar 1300MK2 carries a suggested retail price of about 1,300 dollars.
