Jimny 5-door exports top 1 lakh for Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has shipped more than 100,000 five-door Jimny sport utility vehicles from India since production started in 2023. The automaker sends the model to over 100 countries, including Japan, Mexico, and Australia. Japanese buyers ordered more than 50,000 units within days of the vehicle’s launch there in January under the Jimny Nomade name.
The company exported more than 200,000 vehicles in the first half of the current fiscal year, up 40 percent from the previous period. Maruti Suzuki controls over 46 percent of India’s passenger vehicle export market. The manufacturer shipped 330,000 automobiles in the last fiscal year.
The five-door version features a ladder frame and four-wheel drive system with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Chief executive Hisashi Takeuchi said global customers appreciate the vehicle’s off-road capability and build quality. The model joins 16 other designs the company exports from Indian factories.
