Korea Week fair opens ahead of APEC summit in Gyeongju
South Korea launched a three-week export promotion fair on Tuesday as the nation prepares to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. The 2025 Boom-up Korea Week runs through Nov. 7 with 1,700 international companies from 70 nations meeting 4,000 Korean businesses. Officials expect more than 10,000 export consultations to produce deals and agreements totaling 350 million dollars. The event features 28 exhibitions highlighting electronics, semiconductors, mobility, shipbuilding, and biohealth technologies.
Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo said the government seeks to demonstrate Korean corporate capabilities and help firms expand globally beyond APEC. The southeastern city of Gyeongju will host the two-day APEC summit starting Oct. 31 for delegates from 21 member economies. Construction of summit facilities has finished with final inspections underway. North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo and Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young toured preparation sites and tested shuttle transportation routes.
