Maroc Telecom sees slight revenue growth, driven by Moov Africa and 5G investments
Morocco’s largest telecommunications operator posted quarterly revenue of 27 billion dirhams, as African mobile services offset declining domestic sales. The company expanded its customer base to 81 million users across 11 markets while reducing debt by 21.8 percent.
Moov Africa subsidiaries increased revenue by 5.7 percent, driven by mobile data and digital payment growth. Moroccan operations fell 3.3 percent to 13.9 billion dirhams amid regulatory pressure and market competition.
Capital spending jumped 36 percent as the carrier prepares network infrastructure for fifth-generation wireless service. Authorities require operators to reach 45 percent population coverage by 2026 and 85 percent by 2030.
Profit attributable to shareholders reached 5.5 billion dirhams with regulatory settlement benefits. The company maintained a 50.2 percent margin as adjusted earnings declined slightly to 4.4 billion dirhams.
