Merlin drops suit against Triller Hold Co, spares Triller Group
Merlin has withdrawn part of its lawsuit against Triller Hold Co, but continues legal action against parent company Triller Group. A judge approved the dismissal while keeping the case open against the remaining defendant. The music rights organization seeks millions in unpaid licensing fees from the social media platform.
Triller Group faces a Wednesday deadline to respond to a default judgment motion filed by Merlin in September. The company also received notice from NASDAQ that its stock will be removed from the exchange on Thursday unless it requests a hearing. Triller failed to submit the required financial reports for 2024 and the first two quarters of 2025 despite receiving an extension.
A hearing on the default judgment is scheduled for November. Merlin has encountered difficulties serving legal papers to Triller after the registered agent ended its relationship with the company. Triller plans to appeal the delisting decision and request a 15-day suspension of any removal action.
