Modi’s vision drives northeast India’s growth surge
India’s northeastern region has undergone major development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Sunday. The minister spoke at the 15th O.N.E. India Award 2025, noting that transportation links and investments have grown substantially. All northeastern states gained access to rail lines, airports and road networks.
The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region spent 3,447.71 crore rupees on projects in the 2024-25 fiscal year, a 74.4 percent rise from the prior year. Digital tracking systems on the Poorvottar Vikas Setu portal improved transparency, resulting in 97 percent project inspection rates. The ministry established task forces led by chief ministers across eight sectors to coordinate development efforts among states.
