MTN opens Arua center and unveils city roundabout
MTN Uganda opened a redesigned service center and branded traffic circle in Arua City as part of efforts to enhance customer access and improve public spaces. Dorcus Muhwezi, general manager for customer experience, said the facility replaces a building destroyed by fire five months earlier and provides mobile money services and affordable devices. The company marked the occasion by completing a 49.5-meter communications tower at the roundabout, creating the tallest structure in East and Central Africa.
The tower will include a small museum, a restaurant, and an observation deck with city views. Job Richard Matua, assistant resident city commissioner for Arua, thanked MTN for restoring service at the location residents depend on for telecommunications. The events took place on Customer Service Week as MTN marked 27 years of operating in Uganda under licenses from the Uganda Communications Commission. Simon Avutia from Nile Com, the company’s regional distributor, said the developments strengthen business connectivity across the West Nile.
