NGX Group expands Project Bloom Ajegunle
Nigerian Exchange Group Plc has brought its community nutrition program to Ajegunle, serving more than 120 children, along with their parents and guardians. The initiative partners with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Health Emergency Initiative to address malnutrition in underserved areas. Screenings identified 69 moderately malnourished children, 29 severely malnourished, and 24 at risk of malnutrition.
The program builds on earlier success at Yaba’s Aiyetoro Primary Health Centre where 61 percent of screened children required urgent medical care. Follow-up data showed 48 percent of those children achieved nutritional recovery within weeks. Children received therapeutic foods and health assessments while caregivers learned to prepare affordable, nutritious meals and maintain hygiene practices.
More than 20 NGX Group employees joined health workers to assist with screenings and training. Group Managing Director Temi Popoola said strong capital markets depend on strong communities and that inclusive growth forms the basis of economic resilience. The organization plans to expand Project BLOOM to additional Lagos communities to reach thousands more children across the state.
