Mbah cuts Enugu C of O fees 50 percent
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah cut the cost of land document processing by half in October and November. The temporary discount applies to Certificates of Occupancy and related paperwork, with completion times reduced to 48 to 72 hours after full digital conversion of services. Managing Director Chiwetalu Nwatu said the program helps residents who could not previously afford proper documentation and aims to draw business investment to the region.
A University of Ilorin professor wants Nigeria to eliminate the Land Use Act of 1978, which gives governors control over state territory. Emmanuel Ojo argued the law blocks actual federalism by concentrating authority over natural resources at the state level. He wants federal collection of mineral royalties while letting states manage extraction operations, plus constitutional reform to replace military-era governance structures with citizen-driven frameworks.
