Pearl Awards parade as market woes get ignored
Organizers behind the PEARL Awards have launched preparations for a milestone celebration honoring companies in Nigeria’s capital markets. Board leaders gathered with reporters in Lagos over the weekend to reveal contestants for the November 30 ceremony at Lagos Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island, which will stream online and host attendees in person.
Dr. Faruk Umar, board chairman, noted the event marks three decades of recognition and promised an exceptional program. President Tayo Orekoya emphasized that the awards remain Nigeria’s sole performance-driven capital market honor built on measurable data, maintaining standards for fairness and transparency throughout selection processes.
This year’s competition spans three main segments. Competitive categories feature sectoral leadership recognition, market excellence distinctions and the top prize for stock market performance. Honorary selections spotlight the CEO of the Year, while governance achievements receive special acknowledgment. Two fresh categories debut for the anniversary: awards recognizing excellence in public governance and public service. Dozens of companies across banking, manufacturing, insurance, real estate, energy and healthcare sectors will vie for recognition during the hybrid ceremony that brings together business executives, government representatives and financial professionals.
