Qualcomm rolls out Dragonwing IQ-X chips
Qualcomm Technologies has introduced the Dragonwing IQ-X Series, a new line of industrial-grade processors for programmable logic controllers and other factory floor equipment. The series incorporates the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, built on a 4-nanometer process, and is engineered to function in harsh environments with an extended operational temperature range. Nakul Duggal, a Group General Manager at the company, stated that the platform offers superior computing performance for smarter factories and faster edge controllers.
The processors are designed to reduce system complexity and accelerate product development for manufacturers. They support industry-standard software and form factors, facilitating easier integration and replacement in existing systems. Several original equipment manufacturers, including Advantech and SECO, are expected to launch commercial devices using this platform in the near future.
