IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Varanasi over tech issue
An IndiGo aircraft traveling from Kolkata to Srinagar diverted to Varanasi on Wednesday after crew members identified a mechanical problem. The plane carried 166 people and touched down without incident at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Ground staff evacuated all passengers safely and positioned a replacement aircraft to complete the journey.
The airline grounded the original plane for inspection while prioritizing customer safety. A similar incident occurred last month when another IndiGo jet aborted departure at Lucknow airport after pilots noticed technical difficulties while accelerating. That aircraft returned to the terminal and transferred more than 150 travelers to another plane. A separate flight from Kochi to Abu Dhabi returned to its origin airport shortly after takeoff the previous week because of equipment issues.
