Retired oil workers hail Nuprc, Komolafe reforms
Retired oil industry workers praised the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission for policy changes that attracted investment and increased production. The Forum of Retired Oil Workers credited Chief Executive Gbenga Komolafe with restoring confidence through transparent operations aligned with the Petroleum Industry Act. President Richard Jackson said 28 field development plans approved in 2025 will add 600,000 barrels of oil per day and more than 2 billion cubic feet of gas.
The commission secured 18 billion dollars in new investment commitments this year while raising the number of active rigs from 8 in 2021 to 70 currently. Oil production reached 1.8 million barrels per day as regulatory reforms reduced bureaucratic delays and established clearer operating standards. The group recognized efforts to balance environmental goals with economic needs through decarbonization measures and gas development programs. Jackson urged sustained progress in stakeholder coordination and adherence to safety protocols across the petroleum sector.
