Samsung expands SmartThings AI home push
Samsung is advancing its AI Home strategy, moving beyond simple device control toward an ambient intelligence system that anticipates user needs. Hyesoon Yang, an executive vice president at the company, explained that the SmartThings platform now connects 33 million appliances and serves 410 million users globally. This ecosystem integrates 4,500 different device models from hundreds of partners, enabling cross-device coordination.
The platform’s AI Energy Mode reportedly reduces electricity use significantly by learning household patterns. The company is also expanding into family and pet care features, using connected devices to monitor activity and provide alerts. Samsung’s broader vision involves creating fully automated living spaces that learn user behaviors and routines from the moment of move-in. This hardware-integrated approach positions the company against other major tech ecosystems.
