Samsung flaunts $2K tri-fold tech beast
Samsung displayed its first triple-folding smartphone prototype at a technology showcase on Monday. The Galaxy Z TriFold features a dual-folding design that expands into a tablet with a 10-inch screen. The device appeared at the K-Tech Showcase in South Korea, a side event of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit.
The phone uses a G-shaped folding structure with two hinges connecting three separate displays. Visitors viewed the prototype through glass at the exhibition, and observers reported no visible creases on the screen. The device will compete against the Huawei Mate XT, which has faced durability concerns.
Samsung plans to price the Galaxy Z TriFold at approximately 3 million won, or 2,085 U.S. dollars. The company will release the device in select markets. Tipster Ice Universe shared images of the prototype on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
