SBI wins top global bank, India bank titles
State Bank of India was recognized by Global Finance as the World’s Best Consumer Bank 2025 and the Best Bank in India 2025. The New York publication presented the honors at ceremonies held alongside the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal praised the achievement and said the institution demonstrates commitment to financial access while serving all segments of society.
The bank serves 520 million account holders and adds 65,000 customers each day through technology investments and digital platforms. Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty said the mobile application reaches more than 100 million people with 10 million active users daily. The lender processed 225,000 small business digital loans through August, totaling 74,434 crore rupees since launching the program in fiscal 2024. The awards acknowledge efforts to deliver quality banking experiences across India’s geographic regions.
