Skywind teases spooky Morrowind remake for 2025
A volunteer team developing Skywind has shared a Halloween-themed video preview that highlights eerie locations across Vvardenfell. The nearly four-minute clip features skeletal warriors, spectral figures and Daedric creatures voiced by 11 actors, though these specific recordings will not appear in the finished product.
The ambitious fan project recreates The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s game engine. Development began even before Skyrim’s 2011 launch, evolving from an earlier effort called Morroblivion that adapted Morrowind for the Oblivion engine. After receiving official modding tools on February 7, 2012, the project gained its current name six months later and expanded its scope to rebuild every game element from scratch.
Recent updates reveal that voice actors have been assigned to all non-player characters, with recording sessions still underway. The development team has enhanced ambient sound design and expanded housing options to accommodate character schedules. Work continues on environmental artwork, with distinctive ruins and custom wall paintings planned. The developers are recruiting experienced volunteers for 3D modeling, audio production and animation tasks. No release date has been announced, unlike the related Skyblivion project that targets a 2025 launch.
