Anambra State started paying grants to participants in the One-Youth-Two-Skills Plus program for the Awka North and Awka South areas. Recipients got money to launch small enterprises after completing training in trades such as baking and rice processing. Nkechi Menkiti received 380,000 naira for her confectionery business, while two rice farmers each got 350,000 naira for their operations.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo approved 3.5 billion naira in startup capital for more than 8,300 graduates from the initiative. Youth Development Commissioner Patrick Aghamba praised the plan as evidence of commitment to young people. Program Chairman Chinedu Onyeizugbe reported enrollment increased 48 percent and encouraged others to join. The state runs multiple training programs to develop technical skills and digital competencies among residents seeking employment or business opportunities.
