UNDP partners with Algeria to drive digital overhaul
Algeria’s High Commission for Digitalization signed a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme to advance the country’s technology infrastructure over the next two years. The agreement focuses on improving public service delivery, extending network access and building a stronger digital economy as Algeria pursues greater technological independence.
The development agency will deliver technical assistance to establish national training initiatives, develop local expertise and encourage adoption of global digital frameworks. Policy recommendations, innovation backing and collaboration between government bodies, universities, emerging companies and commercial enterprises form central elements of the strategy to create a lasting technology environment.
Algeria’s wider technology plan emphasizes supporting new ventures, expanding digital skills and ensuring widespread internet availability. Mobile subscriptions exceeded 54 million by 2025, surpassing total population figures, while internet usage approached 77 percent penetration rates. The partnership advances government objectives to modernize data sharing systems, upgrade administrative operations and enhance citizen services across all sectors. Expected outcomes include increased technology innovation, strengthened entrepreneurial capacity and reinforced standing as a regional technology governance leader.
