World Bank names Paschal Donohoe MD
The World Bank Group has named Paschal Donohoe as managing director and chief knowledge officer after his tenure leading Ireland’s finance ministry and chairing the Eurogroup of European finance ministers. World Bank President Ajay Banga said Donohoe brings two decades of government experience plus nearly ten years at Procter & Gamble, providing expertise in policy development and private sector operations.
Donohoe will oversee the institution’s knowledge systems designed to deliver scalable development solutions combining regulatory frameworks, technological capabilities and innovation strategies for sovereign and commercial clients. His portfolio includes coordinating relationships with national governments, nonprofit organizations and philanthropic entities.
The appointee said fostering cooperation among governments and international institutions remains essential for addressing global challenges, describing collaboration as central to his career in public service.
