WTDC-25 highlights global digital divides and calls for inclusive connectivity
Ministers and delegation leaders from over 65 nations delivered brief national digital strategy presentations during sessions at the World Telecommunication Development Conference in Baku, where more than 2,300 participants gathered to address connectivity gaps affecting populations excluded from digital economies. Working groups refined ITU-D Strategic Plan priorities for 2026 through 2029, concentrating on universal access expansion, vulnerable population inclusion, digital skills training, and infrastructure resilience while drafting resolutions to accelerate essential service delivery in rural and marginalized communities. India, Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, and organizations, including GSMA, hosted diplomatic gatherings that facilitated technical, financial, and regulatory partnership discussions among conference attendees pursuing collaborative frameworks for connected societies.
