Zimbabwe e-commerce market hits US$445 million milestone
Zimbabwe’s online retail industry expects to generate roughly $445 million during 2025, marking a substantial expansion for digital commerce nationwide. Better internet access and widespread mobile device adoption fuel this development, according to industry observers. Approximately 3.5 million residents now regularly participate in internet buying and selling activities, representing a quarter increase compared with twelve months earlier.
Mobile purchasing constitutes sixty percent of all electronic transactions, while social networks facilitate nearly half of digital sales. EazzyPay leadership reports cash remains dominant despite thirty-four percent growth in electronic payments, which reached $5.93 billion last year. The fintech company launched a unified platform designed to simplify bill payments, airtime purchases, and ticket sales while reducing wait times and improving service availability. Executives say this approach will particularly benefit rural populations and advance broader financial inclusion efforts across the nation.
