Addleshaw Goddard names Stephen Barry senior partner
Addleshaw Goddard hired Stephen Barry to strengthen its Irish disputes division after he completed more than two decades at Eversheds Sutherland. Barry handled complex litigation matters spanning planning disputes, environmental conflicts, and regulatory probes across the infrastructure and energy industries. His practice focused on representing parties before Ireland’s Planning and Environmental Court in several notable proceedings.
The attorney advised developers, banks and investment firms about planning regulations while managing cases from initial filings through enforcement actions. Barry chairs the Health and Safety Lawyers Association and has addressed regulatory matters tied to workplace safety incidents. His arrival follows the passage of the Planning Act 2024, which created fresh demand for specialized counsel.
Mark Walsh leads Addleshaw Goddard’s Irish operations and said Barry brings valuable knowledge as clients face evolving requirements. Barry expressed enthusiasm about contributing his background to the firm’s global practice while delivering strategic guidance across multiple sectors.
