AfroTalks expands AfroPitch for Kigali 2026
AfroPitch is expanding from a startup competition into a regional accelerator ahead of AfroTalks Kigali 2026. The program will link founders, investors, and officials across East and West Africa through funding support and guidance. The shift reflects AfroTalks’ broader goal of building integrated economic systems across the continent through entrepreneurship and capital flows.
AfroTalks Lagos 2025 at Alliance Française laid the foundation for this growth under the theme ‘Matrix’. David Ogunbanjo won AfroPitch 2025 with Not Safe For Children, a protective SIM card for young internet users. He received 1 million naira from fintech specialist Mariama Jalloh, who partnered with AfroTalks founder Bright Tenbil to evaluate more than 30 submissions.
The panel assessed ventures in agriculture, finance technology, artificial intelligence, education, and health care. Finalists received business development sessions with Jalloh to strengthen operations and prepare for expansion. Tenbil described AfroPitch as the implementation platform, while AfroTalks generates discussion and concepts.
The 2026 edition will create mentorship networks and facilitate investment across African cities. Jalloh emphasized that entrepreneurs need enabling frameworks rather than external approval. She continues working with AfroTalks to develop the continental innovation economy.
