Arewa Festival lights up North for trade
A new initiative named AREWATECH has been introduced to stimulate economic growth across northern Nigeria. The long-term development plan, which stands for Africa Rebuilds Economy With Agriculture, Trade, Entrepreneurship, Education, Creatives, and Hospitality, was unveiled during the announcement of the Arewa Festival 2025. The founder of Tripoint Academy, Mrs. Shuhda Muhammed, stated that the festival aims to revive the region’s historic identity as a commercial center.
The AREWATECH framework is designed to create innovation hubs, annual marketplaces, and a sustained entrepreneurial ecosystem. It focuses on strengthening agricultural value chains and expanding trade. Dr. Olawale Anifowose of the Global Entrepreneurship Network Nigeria said the event is a movement intended to accelerate economic transformation and provide market access for northern businesses.
Organizers project the two-day festival, to be held across 19 states, will attract over 200,000 visitors and benefit more than 5,000 small enterprises. The event will feature trade exhibitions, cultural showcases, and youth innovation programs.
