Bangladesh urged to focus on skilled workforce for 4IR challenges
Bangladesh needs better-trained workers to adapt to rapid technological changes driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, experts said at a roundtable discussion on Monday. The National Skills Development Authority plans to send 100,000 trained workers to Japan and will prioritize programs for women.
Business leaders warned that artificial intelligence will transform one-quarter of jobs within five years. The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the event, where speakers called for closer partnerships between universities and companies to prepare graduates for technology-based employment.
Government officials acknowledged poor coordination between training agencies and insufficient awareness about skills development. Economists recommended modernizing education systems and dedicating more funding to technical programs as Bangladesh prepares to graduate from least developed country status.
