Battlefield REDSEC revealed as free battle royale
EA and Battlefield Studios announced that the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode will launch on Tuesday under the name Battlefield REDSEC as a free-to-play experience. The developer shared the news through its official X account and promised a gameplay trailer will arrive when the mode goes live. ModernWarzone reports REDSEC will support matches with 100 players competing in duos or squads of four.
The new mode arrives alongside Season 1 for Battlefield 6 and takes place on a map set in Southern California. EA positioned REDSEC as its answer to Call of Duty Warzone at a strategic moment when the competing franchise faces ongoing challenges. Battlefield 6 launched more than a month before Call of Duty Black Ops 7 releases in November, giving EA an opportunity to attract players who might otherwise wait for the next Call of Duty installment.
