Cam’ron drags J Cole over unpaid verse
Rapper Cam’ron filed a federal lawsuit against J. Cole on Tuesday, alleging he received no payment for vocals on the 2024 track Ready ’24. Cameron Giles claims Cole agreed he could approve the final recording and would appear on a future Cam’ron song, but failed to honor either commitment. The complaint seeks at least $500,000 and requests that Universal Music Group provide an accounting of the track’s earnings.
Giles contributed lyrics and vocals to the recording released through Cole’s Dreamville label and Interscope Records. He holds songwriting credit but lacks recognition as a performer despite his voice appearing on the track. The lawsuit asks the court to declare Cam’ron a co-author of the sound recording and to award him his proportionate share of revenue and legal expenses.
