GHATSEA halts strike after GCAA talks
The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association has suspended its planned indefinite strike, which was set to begin on October 30, 2025. The union had cited longstanding grievances over unfair salary structures, inequitable job assignments, and unresolved welfare concerns that dated back more than 15 years.
In a statement released on October 29, GHATSEA announced that it had reached a constructive agreement with the governing board and management of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, leading to the decision to halt the industrial action. The association expressed appreciation for the dialogue and stated that it remains hopeful that continued talks will lead to a permanent resolution of all outstanding issues.
GHATSEA also reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in delivering air navigation services nationwide. The announcement followed a GCAA statement the same day assuring the public that contingency plans were in place to guarantee uninterrupted air traffic operations across the Accra Flight Information Region, should the strike have proceeded.
