Delhi Metro taps MapmyIndia tech
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mappls MapmyIndia on Friday to improve metro travel across the Delhi–NCR region. The partnership will integrate DMRC’s data into the Mappls app, providing over 35 million users with instant access to real-time information on stations, routes, fares, train frequencies, line transfers, and travel times.
DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar stated that the move will make commuting smoother and more efficient by enabling users to plan trips, navigate easily, and save time. MapmyIndia Co-Founder Rakesh Verma added that the app will soon support multi-modal transport features and strengthen India’s self-reliant tech ecosystem.
The collaboration also introduces a public engagement platform that shows nearby government services, offers optimized routes with travel estimates, and lets users report traffic or civic issues like accidents, congestion, or waterlogging directly from their phones. Authorities will receive these inputs in real-time to respond more quickly and manage road conditions more effectively. The system will also alert emergency services to incidents, improving road safety across the region.
