Global VC deals top $120 billion as exits soar
Global venture capital investment totaled 120 billion dollars across 7,579 transactions in the third quarter of 2025, the fourth straight period surpassing 100 billion dollars. Artificial intelligence attracted the most capital while companies completed exits worth 149.9 billion dollars, according to a report released on Thursday by consultancy KPMG. India recorded its strongest quarter for exits in seven years, despite modest venture investment, with analysts citing growth in startup exits via initial public offerings.
The firm said India’s economic strength and active markets suggest venture funding will recover after trade uncertainties ease. Investors prioritize profitable operations and cash generation as requirements for public market exits, said Nitish Poddar, a partner at KPMG India. Companies developing artificial intelligence models and applications secured the largest funding rounds, while defense technology, robotics, health technology, quantum computing, and alternative energy also drew attention. Exit values climbed from 119.2 billion dollars in the second quarter to 149.9 billion dollars in the third, the highest level since late 2021.
