India, Taiwan eye climate goals with joint efforts
India and Taiwan can work together to tackle climate change and promote sustainable manufacturing ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Belem, Brazil, according to The Taipei Times. The two territories possess distinct yet compatible advantages that could form a workable framework for green growth across Asia.
Taiwan brings advanced recycling technology and waste reduction systems from its electronics sector, while India offers affordable renewable energy programs and community-led environmental projects. Joint efforts in circular manufacturing, such as electronics recycling and industrial heat recovery, could establish standards for green industrial policy. Both face similar challenges with urban food waste and changing eating habits that drive emissions.
The partnership allows Taiwan to demonstrate climate leadership outside formal UN channels while strengthening India’s reputation for practical environmental solutions. Connecting responsible production with climate action through shared initiatives could help both pursue economic development without depleting natural resources.
