iPhone 18 tipped to debut 2nm A20 chips
Apple will introduce its first 2-nanometer processors with the A20 and A20 Pro chips when the iPhone 18 launches in 2026. The standard iPhone 18 will use the regular A20 chip with the internal codename Borneo. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a new foldable iPhone model will feature the A20 Pro processor known internally as Borneo Ultra. A social media tipster claims an Apple integrated circuit designer shared the information.
The chipsets will continue Apple’s pattern of offering multiple variations for different device tiers. Both processors are expected to contain six cores, split into two performance cores and four efficiency cores. TSMC will manufacture the chips with its N2 process technology. Apple may adopt advanced N2P manufacturing methods in 2027 for future processors.
