Malaysia’s courier market to hit RM6.9B on e-commerce boom
Malaysia’s courier industry expects revenue between 6.8 billion and 6.9 billion ringgit this year as online shopping drives package volumes higher. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said improved internet infrastructure and 5G networks helped create demand that led SPX Express to open a new sorting facility. The center employs more than 1,000 workers in engineering and technology roles beyond traditional package handling positions.
The minister encouraged SPX Express to develop technical education programs for staff advancement as automation changes workplace requirements. He suggested that courier companies partner with universities to train engineers for industry needs. The 30,000 square meter sorting center represents part of a 63.2 million ringgit investment in automated equipment designed to increase operational capacity.
