NDPC starts privacy drive at Nile University Abuja
Nigeria’s data protection authority has begun a nationwide campaign to promote digital privacy awareness at universities, starting with an event at Nile University in Abuja. Babatunde Bamigboye, representing the commission’s legal enforcement division, addressed attendees about professional standards and responsible technology use within academic environments.
A panel featuring experts from CyberdefleX, LawDigits, Andersen, and SBTS examined questions of data ownership across social media platforms and artificial intelligence applications. Ezinne Kalu from CyberdefleX delivered a presentation covering online security practices, including password management and privacy tools. Tokoni Peter Igoin, who advises President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on technology matters, attended the launch event.
