Nigeria opens student venture capital grant program
Nigeria has activated an online platform accepting applications for equity-free venture funding reaching 50 million naira, supporting university students developing innovations across science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical disciplines. The Student Venture Capital Grant program requires participants to be enrolled at accredited institutions beyond their second academic year with projects surpassing conceptual stages.
Federal education authorities partnered with Google to deploy artificial intelligence evaluation systems managing application volumes, while approved participants receive complimentary annual access to Gemini Pro licenses and entrepreneurial training materials. Education Minister Tunji Alausa indicated the Renewed Hope Agenda initiative seeks to identify high-potential startups originating from campus environments.
Recipients will access incubation programming, mentorship networks, and scaling resources designed to transform academic innovations into commercial enterprises capable of advancing economic development and technological capacity nationwide.
