OpenAI launches ChatGPT Atlas browser for macOS
OpenAI released ChatGPT Atlas, an artificial intelligence web browser that integrates the chatbot directly into navigation rather than as an add-on. The software combines traditional search with machine learning responses on a single interface where users access links, images, videos and news without switching windows. MacOS users can download Atlas immediately, while Windows, iOS, and Android versions will be available later.
The browser offers optional memory that stores information from visited sites and lets people ask questions about previous searches without repeating web addresses. Agent Mode enables the chatbot to perform tasks such as researching topics, opening tabs, extracting data and interacting with shopping services. Users can highlight text for instant editing via cursor chat, while also controlling what information the system retains. The company does not use browsing activity for training unless subscribers permit access.
